A beautiful example of a beautiful car. Please look through the photos, they represent the car very well. If you would like any additional, please let us know. The drivetrain is strong and smooth. The engine starts instantly. The transmission shifts as it should.
We purchased it from a retired couple in Akron, who have owned it for the past 8 years. Prior ownership is unknown but a clean Carfax is available upon request.
Its greatest strength is its appearance. Inside and out, it is in incredible condition. The carpets show very little wear. The dashboard has no cracks or fading. The dials look great. The door panels and kickboards look great. The seats have normal wear. The real wood is still beautiful.
It now rides on new Michelin XWX tires - original tread pattern!
The Air Conditioning blows cold!
The aftermarket Alpine radio sounds great and the electric antenna works as it should.
The soft top was replaced by the previous owner and is less than 5 years old. The removable hardtop has been stored since before the previous owners purchased the car. It is in wonderful condition.
Every panel has been repainted except the trunk lid. I don't know why it was not included but its paint is still in good condition. There is a spot of rust under the fuel filler door (see photo). The underside is very clean with just a little surface rust.
We recently had it inspected at a German automotive repair shop and these are the only issues they found:
- Worn springs and shocks
- Vents in the dash don't change (stuck on defrost)
- The odometer does not work. It stopped working when owned by the previous couple. They assure me it does not have more than a few thousand more than shown (120,501). Based on the condition of the car, and how well it runs, I have no reason to doubt them
This 380 SL is not perfect but it almost looks like it is. This could be your chance to own a classic car at an average car cost.
